2018.05.30-Klamath, CA
We are still at Kamp Klamath in Northern California for a 3 month work-camping experience. The area here is full of beautiful sights.
The following pictures showcase a few of those sights.
Forest flowers are blooming and still very colorful these days; many varieties we've never seen.

| This tree is literally only a mile away from our camp so we had to do this. This is the only one we're aware of like this, but was carved out in the early 1930s. No doubt you've seen it in many old pictures. |

| This park is only five miles north east of Crescent City CA. One of the few surviving redwoods groves the land was actually donated by a well known lumber jack. If you are ever in the area it is a MUST SEE. The next few pics are from this State/National park. |

| The tree in the center of the picture is the Stout Tree; we were told it is the single tallest Coastal Redwood in existence. |

| If you squint just right and open your imagination you can see the film set of Star Wars all around this fern meadow. They did indeed film one of the early movies in this very place. |
The fact that this area is so striking for its huge Redwoods and the northern Pacific coastline makes it a very attractive destination and we seriously encourage anyone who has the travel time to spend some time in this area; we don't think you will regret it.

| This is the northern overlook to the Klamath River as it spills into the Pacific. Close to a hundred Sea Lions lounge on this sand bank during low tide. Our campsite is on the far bank of river and to the left, just barely out of this shot. |

| This is the Battery Point lighthouse in Crescent City CA in full bloom. You can actually walk to it from the right side during LOW tide, but you are stuck there if the tide comes in as there are no other places to cross or access the small island. |

| This is a view of the same Crescent City lighthouse from the about one mile up the coast to the north of the one above. Again notice the Ice Plant blooms and the Calla Lilies in bloom. While these were probably planted they are grow wild all along the coastline. |

| We wanted you to see the weather as we most often see it along the Klamath River. Today is one day from June and today's temp will not exceed 65 degrees and was easily in the low forties early this morning. We're not complaining having noticed the temps in south Texas and other locations around the country. Notice the low clouds and fog on the mountains in the background; this is how the Redwoods receive their nourishment. While usually being very overcast and often misty they actually don't accumulate much rain here. The trees have it all figured out. |
Our plans are to depart Kamp Klamath on Tuesday July 10, just after the holiday rush has left the campground. We'll head up the Oregon and Washington coast for a few weeks. Then we'll visit friends and relatives in Spokane and then begin a semi-hasty journey to North Carolina, with plans to winter in Florida and surrounding states.
